The Dust Bin

It's come to my attention that more often than not, the majority of the fanfic ideas I come up with never truly get written all the way - and it's not for lack of trying. Consequently, my hard drive is full of fanfic snippets that will never be finished... but some of this stuff is too good not to share, even if it never will be done. Here's a sampling of the works that probably wouldn't see the light of day otherwise. All of the unfinished snippets are in text format - HTML-izing them would have taken way too much time.

Please note: I do not intend to finish any of these. They are open to whoever would like to pick up the stories... but don't you dare write me and ask me when I'm going to finish writing any of the snippets on this page. I'm not. That's why they're up here. :)

Vacation
Fandom: Power Rangers Lost Galaxy/Power Rangers Turbo
Summary: Mike Corbett's not happy when he's put on mandatory leave, but a time hole and a former Ranger make his time off very interesting.
What happened: I started this in February 2000 for Cynthia, intending to meet her challenges for unlikely pairings - this was a Kim/Mike, and I think the setup was a lot of fun. "Special Case" and the N&A cancellation derailed it, but I picked it up a year later... and was stuck. I couldn't get from the middle to the very end. Pity; it was actually an interesting concept.

Disappearing Acts
Fandom: The Tomorrow People/Invisible Man
Summary: Darien and Bobby try to save some kids from a burning building, but they end up being the ones rescued.
What happened: 9/11 happened. I had no inspiration to write any more of this after that. The punchline was going to be that Bobby and Darien would find out about the TP's secret... but when the Fat Man wants to know what happened, neither group admits they saw anything. Something like that. I don't remember.

Hell Hath No Fury
Fandom: 24
Summary: In the wake of the first season finale, Kim Bauer thinks black thoughts.
What happened: This was basically my way of airing out my initial fury over Teri Bauer's death through Kim. It worked in one respect - I got over it. But I ran out of steam halfway through.

Asking for Directions
Fandom: Buffy the Vampire Slayer (S2)/The Gargoyles Saga: Pendragon
Summary: The Scooby Gang gets lost in London, only to encounter some unusual vampires and some even stranger guardians of the night.
What happened: I got on the TGS staff, for one thing, while I was halfway through the fic, and while it was supposed to be a short fanfic (the main joke being that Xander really should have just asked someone for directions) the idea threatened to explode into a story the size of "Sharp Edges." Worse, I couldn't think of a way to resolve it. In the end, it wasn't that persistent of an idea. Here's as far as I got.

MiSTed: "Apocalypse: A Captain N Movie"
Fandom: MiSTing
Summary: A MiSTing of Mark Moore's fan-written Captain N movie.
What happened: This one was my bad, really. And it almost got done. I started it in November '98, with Mark's permission. When I started to run out of ideas, I enlisted the help of Juliet Youngren, who added (and fixed) some riffs as well as wrote a skit. But then my second semester of sophomore year struck, and it was an absolute nightmare. I had no time whatsoever to work on this, and for the life of me I could not write the ending skit. But this one HAS to be shared not just because of how much work was put into it, but also for the "Harvey the Wonder Hamster" skit.
Note: I'm making an exception in the case of this MiSTing - if anyone would like to try and help me finish the darn thing, let me know.

Of Caffeine Withdrawal and Other Confusion
Fandom: Gargoyles (The Nameless Series)
Summary: A transitional fic in the aftermath of "Night Shift" and "The Sky's the Limit." Sam has an unwanted family reunion, Macbeth gets an unusual visitor, and Sarah goes cold turkey on coffee and tries to enroll in classes.
What happened: The inspiration just died on this one. It just fell completely flat for me, which is usually a sign that I need to drop a fic and move on. The Nameless Series has been dead for a while, to be perfectly honest; "Night Shift" was excellent, but "The Sky's the Limit" just sucked, and I've ceased to have as much affection for my characters as I did before. (Especially Drew, who I wanted to kill off.) The intent here was to have Madison shipped out to New York and wind up on Macbeth's property - once he realizes she's not Demona and she's fairly harmless, he offers her his hospitality. Supposed to be a setup for future fics, but I was getting SO tired of the series.

Hardest Hue
Fandom: Power Rangers Zeo.
Summary: The Gold Ranger powers are still affecting Jason's physiology, and Trey comes to the rescue... but you know it's not going to be that easy.
What happened: Oh, man, I really did not want to ditch this fanfic. It held on so long, mainly because of the characters of Trey's little sister Trillian (who I came up with back in '96) and especially Jason's grandfather, Andrew, who was a lot of fun to write. I've summarized the "twist" at the end of the fanfic so I don't spoil it here. But this story stayed on my backlog way too long, and I could not get it from point A to point without stretching the limits of plausibility.

The Waiting Game
Fandom: Gargoyles/Now and Again
Summary: Post-"Hunter's Moon" and during "On the Town." Confused over previous events, Elisa Maza waits for sundown with a strange young man who's also trying to figure out what to do.
What happened: I just never got it done. Plain and simple. It's supposed to be both Michael and Elisa dealing with unplanned events - Elisa's dealing with her feelings for Goliath, and Michael's dealing with the fact that his little "escape" was completely unplanned. Basically, it gets both of them to act - Elisa confronts her feelings for Goliath, and Michael decides to get into Grand Empire another way. I wanted to end it with the next morning, when Elisa and Matt are checking out the "crime scene" of Roger's office, when Elisa finds and recognizes Michael's tank top... making her wonder just what he was waiting for. Unfortunately, to get to the end I had to write the conversation that led up to it, and I just couldn't.

Hey Jealousy
Fandom: Tomorrow People
Summary: Jade meets Adam's little sister Tana (introduced in "Reunion") and realizes she's not the kid of the group anymore.
What happened: Didn't finish it, shelved it, and forgot about it. The connection to "Trading Secrets" didn't help; I realized after "Relatively Speaking" that it was a mistake to write the TP into my Gargs series, so any further tie-ins weren't a good idea.
