Wondering where the Miller Estate is? Well, several months ago, its original host, The Threshold, took it down. Then some Dutch sites picked it up, then it was gone.
For the moment, you can find it here... (subject to change)
Episodes 1 through 4, respectively:
IMPORTANT NOTES FOR PLAYING THESE EPISODES:
Originally, the Season 1 episodes were stuck in the middle of frames. When you got to a new part of each episode, the music would switch - and it would open up a MIDI file in a new frame.
Since these episodes are hosted by individuals and NOT TheThreshold.com, those MIDI files are missing, but the Flash files still try to load them.
Consequently, you will occasionally have a new window pop up (for mood1.htm or something like that) that gives you a File not found message. Ignore it and close the window. The game is still playable, it's just trying to load background music that isn't there. (A lot of people have run into this and gone, "The link isn't working!" Try closing the window and seeing if the game is running in the first window anyway. 9 times out of 10, you just encountered the "missing background music" issue.)
You cannot save in Season 1. When these episodes were OFFICIALLY hosted by The Threshold, saving was handled by their cookies and a database. The lovely people who are now hosting these episodes managed to save the Flash files for us - but they couldn't duplicate the database. These are individuals who put these games up out of the goodness of their own hearts and not in any official capacity. Saving can't be duplicated. Be glad they were able to save the episodes.
Links for the Miller Estate change ALL THE TIME. The amount of bandwidth that these games suck up is INCREDIBLE, and a lot of people have a maximum limit on how much bandwidth they can use. If a link on this page does NOT WORK, please inform me politely. Don't demand that I find you a new one. These links are the most up-to-date links I know of. I'm not secretly hoarding working Arcane links. The second I find new links, I will post them - either here or in my livejournal. I appreciate the heads-up, but I don't appreciate people whining and assuming that I can magically produce a new link out of the ether. Please, please let me know if there's something wrong with the links, but don't expect me to turn up a new link out of nowhere. :)
Ahem. Excuse me. Sorry. Enjoy!
