Copyrights

Okay, since this transcript site is fairly new, I have yet to have any copyright problems. But reading the woes of other transcribers when it comes to copyrights, I feel the need to have this up.

These transcripts were NOT WRITTEN FOR PROFIT. Why? Well, for starters, if they were, I'd be in trouble. Another transcriber discovered that copies of his transcripts had been downloaded, the disclaimer and copyright deleted, and were sold at conventions under another's name. This is called "Theft and Conversion," which is taking someone's work, altering it and passing it off as though it were your own, and is a clear violation of copyright law. I'm not allowed to make any profit off these, and nobody but the folks who own the rights to the show can make money off of these transcripts or anything pertaining to the show.

Believe it or not, these transcripts - even these transcripts - are protected by the copyright laws of the U.S. and Canada. Check out Title 17 of the United States Code if you don't believe me. What that means is: you can't claim this work as your own, ESPECIALLY if you try to make a profit off of them. If I find out that this is happening - it did with AleXander's Buffy transcripts - I'll take the transcripts down for good. I mean it.

Now I doubt this is going to happen. I haven't been doing this for long, and I'm not the best transcriber out there. I'm only putting this up to play it safe.

As for the legalities on my end: I repeat, I am not making any money off of these transcripts. They're intended as a resource for fanfic, missed episodes, what have you. I freely acknowledge that I have neither the rights nor the permission to do this, but if I ever run into Jonathan Glassner someday, believe me, I'll ask. Like that's ever going to happen. :)
