News and Updates

August 3, 2001

Well, as you can tell, this is less of an update and more of a message pertaining to my status. I've been unable to transcribe anything for a few months now, and have been deprived of Season Five (I really can NOT afford Showtime!), so naturally I've had a major setback. I am also in the process of revamping the site - that is, pushing the transcripts front and center. Right now, I just got out of the shower and have to leave in an hour for a party that I didn't learn about the time and location change of until an hour ago.

Not much of an update, really. I'm spending the week before graduation packing and trying to accomplish page updates before I lose my T1 connection. All my Stargate tapes (except for the one with "Torment of Tantalus" have been sent home, so that's the only transcript I'm going to have a shot at. Monique was kind enough to send me the correct spelling of the German spoken in 1969, and I have updated that transcript accordingly.

Another note: I'm not sure if my parents taped the last few episodes of Season Four or not. After Spring Break this semester, I've been doing non-stop work up until the last day of finals for seniors. I haven't had the chance to check, but there's a good chance that they may NOT have taped the season finale. If anyone knows where I can get copies of "Prodigy," "Double Jeopardy," "Entity," and "Exodus," I'd appreciate it. The ASF files are helpful, but I need the videotapes to accurately describe the action.

In other news, I have a job and a new car. :) Still don't have an apartment, but I'm working on that...

January 31, 2001

In keeping with my new plan, the first section of my "Torment of Tantalus" transcript is now up. No, that's not the entire episode, I'm just posting what I have done to keep people off my back.

Stupid evil demonic video drivers!!! (If you haven't read the rant on my main Stargate page yet, go back there and read it to see what I mean.)

Anyway, despite my mother, the transcript of "The Broca Divide" is up and running. Added something to the FAQ that people have been asking. I haven't updated my tape list to reflect the changes yet, but I now have "Serpent's Venom," "Chain Reaction," and "2010" on tape. Happy day. I've also been informed that the name of "Child's Play" has been changed; I'm reviewing old mail and need to find who clued me in to that to give him credit.

I'm also considering adopting a new policy for posting transcripts; I think that I will be posting parts of transcripts as I complete them. I'll mark them as incomplete, but it might make updates more frequent and people might stop asking if I'm still alive.

Next episode: "The Torment of Tantalus." I decided that LONG ago. I think I'm going to try to get some more first-season episodes since Starguide hasn't gotten around to summarizing them yet.

I know, no new transcripts. What can I say, halfway through the semester and already my time management is terrible. I was pointed to the Gamma Quadrant SG-1 episode archive for ASF files of the episodes, but just got the files to work two weeks ago. I'm still going to use my tapes, but the ASF files are going to help BIG time. I did sit down and put up the final episode listing for season four and updated thetape list. For some reason (Showtime reception, I think) the recording quality of "Point of No Return" was absolutely terrible.

August 20, 2000

Revised the tape list again (Mom taped "Crossroads" completely on her own without any reminding! Yay!), as well as the credits. Also updated the FAQ while I was at it. Since I just discovered that for some reason the closed captioning didn't tape on "The Broca Divide," it's going to be slower going than I thought.

Episode in progress: "The Broca Divide" -- only the first scene in the briefing room, but that's something.
Next episode: Trying to decide between "Torment of Tantalus" and "Upgrades." Odd choices, I know, but if you have any suggestions, feel free. :)

July 20, 2000

Not much of an update: I revised the tape list to include the Season Four episodes I've been able to record. Since no one sent me any suggestions, I've decided the next episode I'm going to transcribe is "The Broca Divide." Until Monday, though, I'm open to any other suggestions. So if there's an episode on my tape list you'd like me to do, drop me a line before then. Don't ask for "Crossroads;" I have to rely on my mother to record that, which means there's only a 50/50 chance I'll have it on tape.

Next episode: "The Broca Divide," unless someone changes my mind before Monday.

Now here's a shocker: I just posted the transcript of "1969." Don't even ask how I managed that one. Of course, that was a relatively low-action episode. However, I need someone to help me out on some translations; there's some Russian and German spoken in the episode, and I couldn't hear all of it and don't know how to spell the words. The transcript is fine without it, but the actual words would be appreciated. Please e-mail me if you can help me out. Also, I lost a LOT of e-mail from before April, and several people sent me suggestions and also some corrections for "Out of Mind" and "Into the Fire" before then. If you e-mailed me before then, please mail me again; I'm trying to revive this page, and that includes the credits listing.

Next episode: Don't have a clue. I'm going to take a break to go through my tapes. I'd appreciate any suggestions.

June 24, 2000

New graphic on transcript page and season four page added. Slight revisions to tape list. Edited "Children of the Gods" transcript because I missed something.

Next episode: Starting in to "1969" - I've managed to finish the teaser.

June 19, 2000

Look, Ma, an actual update! And this time, it's the real thing!! Yes, "Children of the Gods" is FINALLY up. If you're wondering where I've been, my explanations can be found on the index. I'll try to have season four listings up this weekend.

Next episode: I'm not sure. Suggestions would be appreciated; I'm considering "1969" right now.

Snow closings rule! Ahem. Excuse me. This is a general update to let everyone know that I have NOT abandoned this page. I am making a point of getting caught up, but due to real life I still cannot update regularly. Added episodes to tape list, revised the FAQ, revised the two transcripts that are already up. I've officially declared a moratorium on new sounds mainly because the TV set at school won't let me produce good quality sound files. But it has captioning, which helps with the transcripts.

Next episode: I have 35 out of 90 minutes of "Children of the Gods" done. Before you scoff, let me remind everyone that transcripts take me forever; a regular 45-minute episode, at best, requires 8-9 hours of work.

August 15, 1999

More a maintenance update than anything else. Added the list of missing bits and pieces I need from episodes, discovered I DID have "The Tok'ra, Part 2" on tape. Also added a few things to the FAQ I didn't think of before. Finally got an ep request, so priorities have changed.

Next episode: Since someone requested it, now it's going to be "Children of the Gods." Bear with me on this, folks; I'm returning to school August 24, so what with the big move et al, I'll be more delayed than usual. But I have the first run ever of the SG-1 pilot on tape, no bits cut out, nothing edited... you get the idea. :)

August 8, 1999

Re-edited "Out of Mind" for real. Finally completed transcript of "Into the Fire". Added "Dead Man's Switch" to my ep list, and fixed the FAQ and the copyright info. Still no requests for specific eps - come on, people! E-mail me!

Next episode: It's between "1969" and "The Fifth Race," depending on which tape a friend wants to borrow.

August 5, 1999

Transcript archive has undergone a complete overhaul, since people apparently want transcripts. Edited "Out of Mind" transcript for spelling errors. Added FAQ, ep list, credits, acknowledgements, updates, and pretty much ripped off the BtVS Transcript Archive.

Episode in progress: "Into the Fire" -- almost 50% complete.
Next episode: "1969" unless another is demanded.
